Week Thirty Four

The baby can now behave just as a newborn. Their eyes open whilst awake and close whilst asleep. They are developing immunities to infection. Multiple babies are confined to occupying smaller spaces and cannot move around so much. Fifty per cent of twins are born head first. One twin might be head down and the other in breech position (lower half of body pointing down.) This occurs in around forty per cent of cases. One or both twins may lie across the pelvis (also known as transverse position,) As the baby’s get bigger, it’s harder for them to move around into a proper birthing position,

Week Thirty Five

Fat accumulates in the babies limbs and s/he begins to plump up. The baby’s size now takes up most of the uterus and there is less room to move around. If your baby is males, the testes should have completed their descent. The baby now weighs around five and a half pounds.

Week Thirty Six

Your baby’s is almost ready to be born and could drop into the birth canal at any time now. The gums are rigid and creases develop in the baby’s wrists and neck and dimple in the elbows and knees

If you are expecting twins, they may weigh around five pounds each.

You may be visiting your health care professional quite regularly by now. The average weight gain is between twenty five to thirty pounds and you should be consuming around two and a half thousand calories per day.
