Week Thirteen
This week the vocal chords begin to form. The face begins to look more human and the eyes move closer together instead of being on the sides of the head. The intestines move inside the body, the liver begins to secrete bile and the pancreas begins to secrete insulin.
You may find that you are starting to feel tired. Your uterus begins to stretch and you may experience some abdominal achiness. This can often be the most enjoyable stage of pregnancy.
Week Fourteen
The baby is now nine centimetres long. It will start to practice breather and the hands become functional and move about. The eyes and ears are still developing and the neck is growing longer, meaning the chin no longer rests on the baby’s chest. All nourishment now comes from the placenta.
You may find that you experience less feelings of nausea, less frequent urination and feel less tired and the pregnancy hormones reach a stable level. However, the impact of the uterus pressing on the bowel may make you constipated. Try to increase the fibre in your diet (brown bread, breakfast cereals and fruit and vegetables) The veins on your chest may become more dilated and more noticeable. The areolas of your breasts may become darker and grow larger as your body prepares for breastfeeding.
Week Fifteen
By now your baby is capable of sucking their thumb! The baby’s skin is thin and transparent and covered in Lanugo. a fine hair. This will continue to grow for another ten weeks or so. The bones start to grow harder,
The uterus will begin rising past your hipbones any time now and you might be able to feel it about ten centimetres below your navel.
