Week Ten
By week ten, your baby has begum moving inside the womb. Most of the joints are fully formed and include fingers, toes, wrist, knee and shoulders,
You might find that your morning sickness is starting to fade a bit this week, You may feel and bit moody however, and your skin’s complexion may be a bit blotchy. This is all down to hormones and should only be temporary. Your blood volume will increase between forty and fifty per cent during pregnancy. As a result you should start to notice your veins more, particularly in your tummy, breasts and legs.
Week Eleven
This week your developing baby is can be called a foetus. By now your baby is in a period of rapid growth and has more than doubled in size to about three centimetres in length and will be around five centimetres in length by the end of this week. The babies head makes up almost half of this length. The eyelids will fuse shut and the irises will start to develop in the eyes. Blood will start to circulate between the baby and the uterus and the placenta will start to function.
Your womb has grown to the size of a small grapefruit and you may find that your appetite is coming back. Morning sickness may still be problematic and certain smells may still disagree with you!
Your GP should send you for some prenatal tests this week – you may even have had some done already. Your health care worker should be able to answer any questions you have about these tests
Week Twelve
By week twelve most of the foetus’ organs and body structures have been formed although they will continue to grow and develop until the baby is born. Fingers and toes and now all separate entities and hair and nails are beginning to grow. Genitals take on their gender characteristics and amniotic fluid accumulates as the baby produces and excretes urine.
During this week your uterus continues to grow and move further up into your body. This alleviates pressure on the bladder and you should not need to go to the toilet quite so regularly. Any morning sickness should now becoming less frequent and you may feel less lethargic. Headaches and light headedness may occur more frequently.
