Week Seven

Your baby is about once centimetre long. Development of the limbs continues as do the brain, eyes, nostrils, intestines, pancreas and bronchi.

You may still be experiencing the symptoms of early pregnancy. A bump is probably not showing yet but your weight may have fluctuated up or down. You may experience a feeling of heaviness in the pelvis or vagina and a tendency to retain water. Varicose veins can also be symptomatic of early pregnancy and you may find yourself feeling more tired.

Week Eight

Around the eighth week of pregnancy, an ultrasound should show a fluttering hearbeat. Fingers and elbows develop and the legs should begin to show little notches where the toes will develop. Ears, eyes, and nose develop. Teeth start to develop under the gums and the intestines start to form in the umbilical cord.

If you are having twins or multiples they will be developing at the same rate as a single baby and are about as long as two grains of rice.

Inside your body, your uterus is the size of an orange and you may find your waistline expanding. If you are pregnant for the first time, you a are probably still not showing. If you have had a baby before your may be showing as your muscles and ligaments aren’t so tight.

You may find yourself with skin problems as your hormones go into overdrive. Hormones and oil secretions will resume their normal levels either after the the first trimester or after delivery.

If you are expecting twins or multiple births, your breasts may be tender and swollen and your stomach may already be showing a bump.

Week Ten

Cartilage and bones begin to form around the beginning of week nine. The structure of the eye is growing and the development of the tongue is developing. The intestines move out of the umbilical cord and into the baby’s abdomen. The thumb and fingers have appeared but are short and webbed.

Twins and multiple babies develop just like single babies. Each weighs about one gram.

You will have missed your second period this week.  Your breasts may be fuller than ever and may feel sensitive. Your waistline may also grow and you may experience heartburn and indigestion.
