How To Cut A Pumpkin For Halloween
Equipment needed
Old newspaper
- Sharp knife
- Felt tip to mark design
- Ice cream scoop
- Old jam jar
- Night light candle
To Begin
Cover your work top with the old newspaper as it will be easier to clear up the mess.
Start by marking out your pattern on the front of the pumpkin with your felt tip pen or crayon. You can get stencils of face patterns from your local supermarket or design your own.
Once marked, begin by cutting round the stem at the top to make a lid for your pumpkin head. Ensure that it is cut at a slight angle so the lid does not fall in and the opening is large enough to be able to scoop out the seeds and pulp.
When the lid has been cut use your ice cream scoop, large spoon or hand to remove all of the seeds and pulp inside.
Cut out the face design on the front, making sure that the holes go all the way through to the inside, as you want the candle light to come through.
Place your lighted night light candle inside the jam jar and place inside the pumpkin, put the lid on.
