What Is Post Natal Depression?

Post Natal depression can affect up to 10% of mothers. The depression normally starts after you have had your baby and the both of you have left the hospital.

What Are The Symptoms Of Post Natal Depression?

Some of the most recognisable symptoms include:

  • tearfulness
  • feeling you can’t cope
  • tension
  • irritability
  • difficulty in sleeping
  • despondency

What Should I Do If I Think I Am Suffering From Post Natal Depression?

The first thing you need to do if you think you are suffering from post natal depression is to either speak to your doctor or health visitor. Tell them how you are feeling, also discuss it with your partner.

How Can I Treat Post Natal Depression?

Once you have spoken to your GP, they can look at prescribing anti-depressants. You also need to look at helping yourself by getting plenty of rest.

How Soon Will It Take For Me To Get Better?

Each person is different so recovery will be vary. Eventually you will find that the “ Bad Days” get less and less and eventually disappear.
