Peachy Purees

What Foods Are Suitable For Pureeing?

Smooth fruit and vegetable purees are ideal first weaning foods. They can be made in batches and frozen in ice cube trays for later use. As you progress you can easily increase the quantity and combine different flavours.

Where Do I Start?

Start by cooking food to make your puree. After about six weeks you can introduce uncooked puree.

How Do I Make A Puree?

  • wash the fruit or vegetable carefully, cut into pieces, remove skin, peel or pith (until later when your baby will be able to digest peel in puree.)
  • put the pieces into a saucepan and cover with boiled, filtered water
  • boil, then cover, turn down the heat and simmer for 5 minutes or until the fruit or vegetables are tender
  • remove from the pan and puree using a blender, liquidiser or food processor and allow to cool
  • spoon into ice cube trays and place in freezer
  • defrost thoroughly before use
