Meat Baby Foods
Which meats should I introduce to my baby first?
Chicken and turkey are often recommended as the first meats to start offering to your baby. Try to introduce meat into your child’s diet once they are eight or nine months old.
How do I prepare meat baby foods?
Baking meat in the oven help to retain the nutrients. Boiling and poaching are also good methods, allowing meat nutrients to be absorbed by the water or liquid that it is being cooked in. Making soups, and stews from meat can be a good way to introduce your child to meat. Be aware, however, that meat broths and soups can develop a strong taste that might be unpleasant to babies who are unaccustomed to eating meat.
How do I puree meat?
When the meat is cold, dice it into small chunks about an inch square. Grind the meat first before adding water or stock until the mixture reaches your desired consistency.
Can I freeze meat puree?
Yes! Pour your meat puree into ice cube trays in the same way that you do for fruit and vegetables. Ensure that the puree has thawed thoroughly before feeding to your baby.
Meat puree can be warmed with cereals, baby rice, mashed potato, or vegetables.
