How Soon Can I Know The Sex Of My Baby?

Your twenty week scan is the first time that you’ll really be able to know the sex of your baby. Depending on the position that your baby is lying in, the doctor should be able to tell whether it’s a little he or a little she. If you think you would like to know, now’s the time to ask! There can be a margin of error however, so whilst most health authorities are happy to impart this information, some may hold back.

Do I Need To Know The Sex Of My Baby?

Some parents to be are desparately keen to know, others prefer to wait until the birth. You may wish to discuss this matter with you partner before going for the scan so you understand how each other feels. Also be aware of the feelings of other family members. Some  grandparents and aunts and uncles to be would prefer to be surprised after the baby is born. It can be disappointing to rush home excitedly after your scan only to find that nobody want to hear your news.

Is There Any Truth In The Old Wives Tales About Guessing The Sex Of An Unborn Baby?

Your friends and relative may have a lot of fun guessing the sex of your baby. Some people claim to have a gut instinct, others place their faith in the size and position of the bump, the heart rate, the shape a pendulum makes when swung over your bump. Whilst these are a lot of fun, all are old wives tales and there is little scientific fact to be drawn from any of them
