Baby Clothing
Babies get through a lot of clothing and need changing regularly. They need to be dressed comfortably and maintain the optimum temperature at all times. Layers are good for this as you can add and take way as the environment decrees.
Baby clothes should ideally be made from natural absorbent and easy to wash and clean fabrics.
Baby clothes come in a range of sizes. As your new born baby will grow very quickly, a starting wardrobe might be a good idea. You can then add new baby clothes to this as time goes on and your baby develops. There are fundamental items that you will need in this starting wardrobe for baby.
- Baby Bodysuits and sleepsuits can be worn in the day or to sleep in. Choose cotton suits that will be cool in summer and warm in winter. Cotton will wear well and is durable. Press studs will allow for quick nappy changes. Ensure that the press studs are produced by approved suppliers. Look for linings in feet ends and necklines that make it easy to put on and take off
- Baby Vests can be used instead of bodysuits in summer
- Baby Socks – again cotton are the best, check for loose threads in the foot end
- Baby Pyjamas – choose cotton again. This fabric will breathe and give a comfortable nights sleep.
- Baby Cardigan – add an extra layer of warmth
- Baby Hats – babies lose eighty per cent of their body heat through their head. Knitted hats can help them stay warm out of doors and come in a variety of sizes
- Baby Mittens – are used to prevent babies scratching themselves unintentionally
- Baby Jacket for when baby is out of doors and should be removed when the baby comes indoors
- Baby Bibs – cloth bibs that are easy to wash after every feed will be invaluable
- Baby Blanket – although not strictly clothing, this will help your baby to stay warm
